Client Case Study Suzie McLellan Soloviev - When I Grow Up
Client Case Study Suzie McLellan Soloviev - When I Grow Up Um, do you know that Ive coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now and youll hear their stories firsthand in my Client Case Studies series! Career Camp was the precursor to Discover Your Dream Business, and Suzie McLellan Soloviev signed up for it in December of 2015. We worked through the program together for a few months, and that was thatuntil last March, where she emailed to say she wanted to work through 90 Day Business Launch together! Ive been over the moon to see her bring Sacred Record to life and work with her first clients. She has such great wisdom here it was hard for me to pull out just 1 quote to highlight! Get ready for the inspiration a-has youve been seeking. Why did you decide to work with me? I found you through a life coach who must have reblogged you, but it was long enough ago that I dont remember the specifics (2012ish?). I DO remember visiting your website for the first time. I loved your vibe the positivity, the ukulele, the whimsy, etc. I kept up with your blog and mailing list, and tried out Career Camp in 2015. Last year something finally snapped, and I knew it was time. So I emailed you and we decided that the time was right for both of us! Ive always known that I can produce great work, but not all by myself. Im an obliger, through and through. What were you doing work-wise when we started working together and what are you doing now? Back when I did Career Camp, I was working in a very unhealthy company as a residential manager for international students. I left not long after, when I realized that there was just no way that job was going to fulfill me. A lots happened since then a baby, grad school, temping, and a job thats made me happy(ish). Im about to leave for a much better paid bridge job so I can focus on Sacred Record as much as possible. What was your biggest takeaway from our work together? Listen to your gut when you make the plan, and dont settle. Then, stick to the plan and itll all come together! Thats how we built Sacred Record. Im so proud of what we crafted together. Also ALWAYS ASK. Just ask. Ask for everything. Ask your friends. Ask your family. Ask the interviewer. Just ask. Youll be surprised. Seriously. Take up the emotional space, youre not troubling anyone, just. ask. (Written just after I got a call while writing this to let me know the new bridge job offer had increased. Ask!) Think of someone who is currently in the shoes you wore when we first started working together. What advice do you have for her? Its both more work and way less work than you think it will be. I find myself completely lost in creating content for Sacred Record, well, often. Thats the reward. It doesnt have to be perfect, it just has to get done! Michelle has seen so many people go through this process that shell quickly assuage your fears. Then shell assuage them again when you freak out a month before launch. Shes good at assuaging. Shes good at all of this! Trust Michelle! Is there anything thats been a game-changer for you when it comes to your business that you can share? Wed love a good resource or a mindset/productivity tip! A big one- there is always time in your day, once you decide there must be. I am perpetually crazy busy. While working on my launch I worked a full time job, attended grad school classes, started writing a thesis, parented a toddler, kept up a relationship, went to church, and occasionally ate and slept. Once I decided I was going to be serious, I decided to commit two hours a day to Sacred Record. I didnt tell anyone, just decided. And I found the time. I wrote copy on my commute home. I played with graphics between projects at the office. I snatched a few minutes here and there after bedtime. Did I do two hours every day? No, Im sure I didnt. But having a high standard from which to fall is crucial for me. A few book recommendations that have shaped my mindset in the last few years: The Art of Asking, by Amanda Palmer Barking Up the Wrong Tree, by Eric Barker The Big Leap, by Gay Hendricks The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, by Marie Kondo (Cliche now, maybe, but I KonMarid my house right after working with Michelle the first time, and it literally changed my life.) Whats on the horizon for your business? Wed love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals! Im loving all of the enthusiasm Sacred Record has met with so far. So far, Ive designed the DAY OF LEGEND, which is a workshop to totally clarify your message and wake your (and your teams) brain up! You can read all about it here: https://www.yoursacredrecord.com/workwithus Ive also been working on class design with some Instagrammers, which I adore. Once we figure out whats really important to them, the content basically writes itself. If you know anyone who could use a little clarity in their narrative, please send them over to Sacred Record. Id love to meet them. Where can we find you and your work? Website: yoursacredrecord.com, Instagram: @sacredrecord, Twitter: @Suzie_Solo Want to grab my next 90 Day Business Launch spot?
